Family Support

WJS Canada’s support for Aboriginal families emphasize building relationships to enhance the family’s strengths and achieve goals that address their needs for support in areas of struggle. We offer culturally-sensitive programs with services that are individualized and based on the family’s belief that their own internal resources can be strengthened and that other helpful skills can be developed. Our conviction is that the most sustainable change will occur when families are fully engaged in the process, supported and connected to members of their community and empowered by their culture. No two families or individuals are alike. Our programs and services are adaptable to meet the specific needs of each family that we work with. All planning with families is designed to meet their specific needs.

Taking good care of a new baby or raising a young child is a wonderful job, but it’s also a hard one, and we can help. We provide support in the home to parents with new babies and children under 5 and parent and child group sessions in Wabasca and Sandy Lake. Our goal is the development and overall well-being of children, youth and families. We’ll talk with you about your needs, parenting goals and any concerns you may have. We’ll provide you with tips, contacts and materials that will steer you in the right direction. We’ll advocate for you and your family in the community.
