Community Based Homes

Community Based Homes

WJS Canada provides a wide range of residential options for adults who have a developmental disability. Many residents have multiple or complex support needs and require a moderate to high level of skilled support. Others require less intensive or minimal support. WJS Canada provides personalized planning tools and approaches. We encourage family involvement and respect individual choices regarding activities and programming options. To ensure the “Best Fit” for all, we create companionship among residents who share similar interests.

WJS Canada strives for inclusion in the community and helps residents reach the highest possible levels of independence and self-sufficiency in their daily lives. Services reinforce individual strengths and draw on outside supports including skills and resources within individuals’ families.

Services

WJS Canada believes that we all grow and change throughout our lifetime and have the right to be supported in the home and community that we choose; close to friends and family. The residents of our lifetime homes come with varying support needs from developmental disabilities, to mental health diagnosis, physical disabilities, physical care needs, and brain injury. For them we negotiate long term leases, make any necessary physical adaptations to the environment and make certain that all staff have the skills and training necessary to ensure that individuals with needs that include long term support can be successful in achieving their goals well into their senior years.

WJS provides, through qualified homes, a family-like setting, 24/7, 365 days per year service for individuals who may require varying levels of support and supervision, who may prefer living with a family, and who will benefit from the additional support a family environment can provide. Typically this model is for one individual in the home. Some individuals require a more independent living situation – such as a suite within a home – while still belonging to a family unit.
