Our Journey with Truth and Reconciliation

In 2017, we established the Truth and Reconciliation Committee Working Group as an integral component of our strategic plan. Since then, the committee has been assisting WJS Canada to understand how we can move forward as an organization and address the changing role of Indigenous communities and governance in the provision of services to vulnerable people across the communities we serve.

This group has focused their work in three areas:

  • Supporting employees on their own learnings about Truth and Reconciliation
  • Supporting services to consider culturally based methods to support individuals and families
  • Supporting the organization to consider how it wishes to respond to changing relationships with Indigenous communities.

Staff and Indigenous cultural advisors at WJS Canada gathered to discuss the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Working Group. View the video below to see highlights of this day and to hear these individuals’ journeys.
